Shortning speeds in Europe

Post by cawatnwr »

HI

Is there anyway you have a list of age cat shortening speeds for Europe, in the UK we are trying to bring ours in line with the rest of Europe, any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hello Catherine,

The E&A additional rules provide this:
Under 14 Girls shorten @ 55 kph
Boys shorten @ 55 kph
Under 17 Girls shorten @ 55 kph
Boys shorten @ 58 kph

35+ Men shorten at 55 kph
35+ Women shorten at 55 kph
45+ Men shorten at 55 kph
45+ Women shorten at 55 kph
55+ Men shorten at 55 kph
55+ Women shorten at 52 kph
65+ Men shorten at 52 kph
65+ Women shorten at 49 kph

for lower age categories (U12, U10, U8), this depends on federations:
As far as know:
- France: U10 (boys and girls) can start from 22kmh and shorten at 52
U12 (boys and girls) can start from 31kmh and shorten at 55
- Italy: U10 and U12 can start at 22kmh and shorten at 55

- some other countries keep the same rule as for U14: shorten at 55

- Australia/New Zealand: U8 and U10 can start from 25 or 28kmh and shorten at 49
U12 girls shorten at 52, boys at 55
